About Our Program
The Concordia Language Villages’ Spain Study Abroad Program is designed for high school students looking to improve their Spanish in an immersion setting — Spain!  Our villagers will be taking classes for one year of high school credit and will be traveling to many cities in Spain, including Madrid, Toledo, Segovia, Salamanca, and Seville.  They also will be staying with a host family in either Oviedo or Valladolid. Through the language, culture and conversation classes, along with the extensive traveling and touring we will do, villagers will learn not only the Spanish language, but also the rich culture of Spain in the most authentic setting possible — in country!
About Our Staff
A Message from Edu: Credit Teacher
¡Hola! I am Edu and this is the second time I am working with my friends from Concordia Language Villages. I was born in Madrid, although I have lived in both Zaragoza and Barcelona. I have a degree in Environmental Sciences from la Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona and now I am finishing my doctorate in Ecology. Through my studies, I have had the opportunity to also outside of Spain, in Leeuwarden (Holland), Albuquerque (New Mexico) y now in Toulouse (France). This has allowed me to come into contact with people from diverse cultures, discover the charm of the diversity of the world, and to share my language and culture with others.  I consider myself to be open, curious and a little restless. My hobbies include cinema, tennis, and traveling. In 2004, I worked all summer teaching Spanish at El Lago del Bosque Wilder, from where I have great memories. I hope that this summer will be equally as fun, and because of that, I do not doubt that our experiences with villagers in Spain, my country, will be unforgettable!Â
A Message from Molly: Credit Teacher
¡Saludos! My name is Molly and I am a graduate of Valparaiso University, Indiana, where I studied Spanish Language and Literature, the Humanities, and Art History. I had the pleasure of studying for a semester in Granada, Spain, an experience which set off an incredible journey and fascination with the language, culture and history of Spain. The summer after graduating, I was blessed with the opportunity to learn and teach at CLV´s El Lago del Bosque Wilder as a Credit Teacher. I am currently wrapping up a scholastic year abroad in Madrid, Spain, as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in a primary bilingual school here, and I have been conducting research on the common historical/cultural links between the Maghreb and Spain, particularly focusing on the presence of the contemporary Moroccan community in Madrid. After my valuable experiences at ELdB and in Madrid, I am looking forward to showing off “my” new city (and country!) to students, and to helping them pursue their interest in the Spanish language and culture…it is a rare and wonderful opportunity to have such in-depth contact and interaction with a different culture! Â
A Message from Jeanne: Program Dean
¡Buenos dÃas! My name is Jeanne and I am very excited about my seventh summer with CLV. More importantly, however, I can’t wait to have the opportunity to work with our villagers. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a BS in Spanish and Secondary Education. I had the life-changing opportunity to study abroad in Sevilla, España for a semester during my undergraduate studies. I am currently teaching Spanish 3-4 and Introduction to Spanish Literature at Arrowhead High School, in Hartland, WI. I will be starting my 10th year teaching this fall and I absolutely love my job! I am passionate about traveling and love to share my excitement with students. I have led or chaperoned student trips to Spain, Costa Rica, Honduras, Guatemala and Peru. I also enjoy being a student, so I went back to school to get my MA in Spanish Language and Culture from la Universidad de Salamanca, in Spain, and will be finishing an MS in Educational Administration at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee this fall. I look forward to our journey together this summer and hope that our villagers’ experiences in Spain are as incredible as mine have been!
